Why Big Blu World?

When was the last time you were able to enjoy the beach without seeing a single piece of colorful plastic? When was the last time you walked into a lake without fear of cutting your foot on a rusty piece of metal or floated along a river without bumping into an empty plastic bottle? At Big Blu World, our mission is to better maintain these bodies of water so that we may enjoy their natural beauty. The human quest for convenience has led to the pollution of one of our most valuable resources, so it is our responsibility to restore these natural areas. Here are four ways we plan to tackle this major task.

Reduce Plastic and Trash in Our Water’s Ecosystems

Spending a day in our wild waterways typically means you will need to dispose of some form of trash while you are on the trail. The realization that trash is more prevalent in areas with fewer waste receptacles, inspired us to start the Big Blu Barrel project. Land and park management companies can purchase our barrels for an annual fee that helps us service the receptacles and distribute more. By providing a place to put trash and plastic, we can reduce the amount that ends up on the shores, trails, and beaches.

Revive Our Passion for Our Planet Through Education and Programs

It is hard to care about something when you don’t realize its importance. That’s why we do everything we can to educate the public on how society impacts the environment, and how that, in turn, has negative repercussions for us. For example, according to NOAA, coral reefs protect coastlines from storms and erosion and provide jobs and recreation to local communities. By bringing attention to the importance of reefs through our “Save Our Reefs!” project, we educate swimmers, beach bums, and tourists about how they can have less of an impact.

Reclaim Nature's Finest Creation

Even when plastic has degraded to the point where we can’t see it anymore, it is still there. That is why it poses such a threat to the oceans and our waterways. These tiny pieces of plastic are easily ingested by humans and animals alike. To reclaim our water systems, we started the Big Blu Boat project, where we take the plastic that has been removed from our waters and repurpose it into small watercrafts.

Waterway Cleanups

In addition to our various projects, we also host events where we ask for your help in cleaning up a local waterway or beach. We hold these cleanups in different locations all over the U.S., so keep an eye out, we could be coming to your neighborhood next.

Together, we can make a positive impact on our oceans, lakes, rivers, and other waterways. Do your part, volunteer or donate today!
